Cheryl Wegelin
I provide a warm and supportive approach to help people address difficult issues like grief, trauma, significant health issues, depression and adjusting to major life changes. I have a background in working in outpatient therapy, emergency departments, an acute rehab center, medical units and inpatient psychiatric units for adolescents, adults and seniors. I have training in trauma-informed care, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, grief, crisis intervention, caregiver issues and chronic pain management. I strive to provide compassionate, validating and holistic care to individuals with a variety of issues. Many people I work with have a history of trauma that has resulted in the development of addictions, eating disorders, trust issues, relationship problems and poor self-esteem. I also support individuals with a variety of disabling or terminal conditions. I help people to find meaning, acceptance and happiness regardless of circumstances. I empower individuals to understand factors that influence the way they perceive themselves, other people and situations without judgment. I help them develop a more effective way of responding to their thoughts, feelings and past to change self-defeating patterns. I empower people to develop skills to manage distress and live more in the present. I also connect individuals with resources that can provide further assistance and connectedness.
