Hi! I'm Claire Cotton. I have worked in counseling since 2019, and I consider always having my own therapist as part of my consistent self-care routine a must! For those of you that may be new to the therapy realm, welcome! Take a moment and congratulate yourself for making it this far. Starting therapy can be a daunting task, but so worth it in the long run. If you've ever struggled with thoughts of feeling stuck or anxious in your career or at school, struggled with body image when you look in the mirror, or had problems sleeping, I could be a good fit for a therapist for you. If you've struggled with controlling your anger in traffic or other frustrating situations, I could be a good fit as a therapist for you. If you've come to a place in your life, where you feel it's finally time to look at and work through a past trauma or figure out what to do about that complicated relationship, I could be a good fit for you. Self-transformation has a lot to do with examining our unhelpful thoughts and taking steps to change or reframe them. Therapy with me may also may include mindfulness and relaxation techniques. I like to think of starting therapy as showing up with an empty toolbox. Gradually, with each session, as you learn ways to cope better with your struggles, you add a new tool to your toolbox. By the end of therapy you have your own set of tools to handle all the challenging situations that were bringing you down. This is my hope for you. That you will leave therapy properly equipped to handle what life throws at you, and I look forward to assisting you however I can.
