Daniel Sturtevant
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a counselor is the privilege to walk alongside someone at pivotal and transformative points in their journey. I specialize in working with children and adolescents, and enjoy supporting youth in navigating the unique experiences they face in the modern world. I work particularly well with clients who want to process past trauma, clients struggling with general concerns such as depression/anxiety, clients who are exploring their identity, and clients who experience chronic pain. Working with me starts with getting to know your story, what you’re struggling with, and what your goals are. You can ask me questions about my training, experience, and philosophy to help you determine if I could be a good fit for you. I work from a non-directive, client-centered philosophy, supplementing this with more direct approaches such as skill-building and mindfulness. I have a wide variety of tools and approaches to support children and adolescents in engaging in therapy via telehealth. I also have additional training in play therapy, EMDR and trauma-informed approaches, working with neurodivergence, and LGBTQ+ concerns. I earned my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado where I received additional supervised Play Therapy training. Since then, I have had experiences working with chronic pain patients in an integrated care setting, home-based mental health services through Colorado Child Protective Services, and individual/group counseling services.
