As the owner of the practice and a trauma-specialized therapist, I am excited to work with you and be a part of your healing and growth journey!
What I Bring to the Table:
I provide therapy for individuals, families, and couples; adults and youth. I see clients virtually throughout the state of VA and am available to see clients in person through the use of public space or nature trails in the Hampton Roads Area. Group therapy to be offered soon as well. My clinical focus is on trauma, high acuity, complex PTSD, anxiety and mood disorders, military service-related stress, chronic and acute suicidality, complex depression, self-harming behaviors, traumatic-brain injury-related stressors, dissociative disorders, mood disorders, ADHD, and crisis intervention. I am also well-versed in assessment and testing, career counseling, parenting, sexual and gender-related issues (to include fertility complications), eating disorders, dual diagnosis, and homeopathic care.
Educational/Professional Resume:
I graduated with honors with my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling in June 2020 and I am currently a 3rd year PhD student in Psychology. I was honored to be able to present at the 2022 and 2023 VCA State Conference and was a recipient of a 2022 VCA Emerging Leaders in Counseling Award. I have experience in inpatient care (medical and mental health, voluntary and involuntary), outpatient, crisis response, in-home, residential, and private practice. I was an EMT and come from working in the medical field prior to moving into mental health care. Worked as a 911 operator. I belong to my local Emergency Response Team (for the last 10 years) with a focus on Disaster Psychology. I am currently in process of obtaining my Crisis Intervention Specialist Certification as well as CISM certification. I hold membership in the American Psychological Association (APA), as well as the American Counseling Association (ACA). I am also a member of the Chi Sigma Iota Chapter of the Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International and The National Honor Society of Leadership and Success.
Who I am as a Person:
I come from a military and first responder family and support the sacrifices they make. I run my private practice in addition to I work with the Psychiatric Emergency Response department at Sentara. If I am not working with clients, you can find me most likely on the trails or on the water with my Belgian Malinois service dog, cooking it up in the kitchen, watching he news, working on my art work, or attending a lecture series on some random topic. I am a strong believer that we benefit from constantly learning, being in nature and life is not meant to do alone.
