Donna Connely
Did you ever watch the movie, "Forrest Gump"? This movie has one of my favorite quotes, "My mama always said, Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." This makes perfect sense to me. I too am often sideswiped at the surprises in life. Ever since age 12, I'd ask every wise person I knew about each new life surprise. Then I'd read every book I could find on the topic. I now share this knowledge with you in bibliotherapy-the use of books in therapy (& cinema-therapy). I also have vast life experience. Another way to look at how therapy helps is this, imagine that you've been travelling down the road of life, it has been raining a lot, & you somehow ended up on a dirt road & slid into the ditch. I am like a tow truck that comes out to help you get out of the ditch & get you back onto a dry road so you can continue on your journey of life. In my practice, I share coping skills, bio-destressing exercises, & integrative psychotherapy to help you become the authority of your own truth. If you don't know what your truth is I will help you find it. I also do dream work (based in Freudian, Jungian, Gestalt, Client-Centered & Behavioral approaches). This is all designed to help you grow into your greatest & highest good. My goal is to help you learn new tools & become empowered so that you can then take over the management of your own life & future. No one escapes the human condition; the goal is to become peaceful & fulfilled in spite of what life throws at you (the human condition).
