Elizabeth Groom
Elizabeth Groom is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who has been practicing in the mental health field since receiving her Master of Science degree from the University of York England in 2012. Her degree is in forensic psychology, but she has practiced in a variety of fields including case management, school-based therapy, conducting psychological evaluations, co-response with law enforcement, and individual therapy with the public safety population. She works with individuals from ages 15 and above, applying cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to attend to trauma, depression, anxiety, and coping with daily stressors. She also possesses specialized training in working with the first responder population and can identify and address issues that are specific to first responders and their families. A quote that Elizabeth keeps at the heart of her practice, "Be curious, not judgmental." Learn to wonder for a while. When you don’t meet an initial goal, when it’s taking too long, when you have negative thoughts in your head, when the world feels scary, or when the path seems to come to an end… be curious, not judgmental. Whatever journey led you to seek therapy, Elizabeth can help guide you in learning how to cope with stressful situations, regulate difficult emotions, heal relationships, improve communication skills, and set healthy boundaries with people in your lives.
