Hello! I'm so glad you're here. I'm Elizabeth, and I am a somatic therapist. This means that I emphasize the connection between mind and body, and bring that connection into the therapeutic process, whether that's through perspectives that I share, reflection that I prompt, or even experiments I offer. I have a range of experience working with children, teens, adults, and couples with varying concerns, from anxiety and depression to relational issues, grief and loss, or identity exploration. Currently, I am focused on working with female-identified adults to better tend to the unique experiences and challenges of being in a female-presenting body. The three key words that best describe my approach are person-centered, relational, and embodiment. Person-centered: I believe that every individual is the expert of themselves and holds the innate wisdom they need to be well; my role as the therapist is to be a facilitator to support a person is accessing their healing wisdom and authenticity. While I have my limits and cannot be the right guide for everyone, I will always do my best to tailor my skills to align with the unique person in front of me. Relational: As humans, we are relational/social beings, and we heal in relationship. I offer a warm and authentic presence, and focus on building rapport to create a relationship where accessing states of healing and restoration, and even thriving are possible. Embodiment: When we tune into the body, we often find that it carries wounds and scars from our experience, but also that it holds the wisdom to heal. Connecting with the body is a powerful way to re-member our wholeness and develop what I like to call a secure attachment to self, which just might be the cornerstone of all healing. My clients often leave a session with a new perspective or a new understanding of themselves. They shift from shame or self-criticism to curiosity and self-compassion. Over time, they connect with themselves (including their bodies and emotions) and others in a different, more loving way. And that is my biggest hope for my clients: to experience the empowerment and resilience that comes from real self-love.
