Emily Tamas
I graduated in 2014 from Walsh University with a Bachelor's in Behavioral Science. I began my career in mental health as a case manager, assisting clients with a wide range of severe and persistent mental illness. In 2017 I graduated with my Master's in Counseling and Human Development. As a licensed therapist I have worked with transitional aged youth and served as a Team Lead for a group that focuses on transition to independence for young adults. I have also done home based therapy for two years with clients diagnosed with OCD, PTSD, Hoarding Disorder, and Agoraphobia. I have worked in the community as a home based clinician, assisting clients with severe anxiety, trauma, and hoarding disorders. I have completed assessments for individuals in the jail system as well as individuals hospitalized for psychiatric reasons. The focus of my present role as an outpatient therapist is working with clients diagnosed with mood disorders, psychotic disorders, trauma, substance use, gender identity and personality disorders. I utilize a variety of approaches in my work including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Person Centered. Therapy is a process that often times takes strength and courage to begin. Discussing personal and sensitive information with someone you have never met can be unnerving, and change can be difficult. Therapy is a commitment to learning more about yourself and a beginning to making positive changes within your life. I understand how challenging it can be to share intimate parts of yourself with someone. Being that someone to my clients is why I love what I do. I look forward to hearing your story, walking with you on this journey, and helping you find the tools you need to help write the next chapter of your life.
