Trust is of the utmost priority in any therapeutic relationship. My clients learn they won't be judged and that I cherish each person, no matter what. In a few sessions we should know whether we would work effectively with each other. For great therapy results, you will want to have a great fit with your therapist. With decades of experience, I primarily use ACT, DBT, REBT, and Positive Psychology methods and strategies. Ultimately, the actual process is just sitting down and talking about you and developing what works for YOU. Emotions can sometimes make it challenging and some issues are harder to explore than others. My hope for you, regardless of your reasons for seeking therapy, is to deeply feel that your well-being has improved and that you can intentionally create the life you want in the present. As far as my background, you may want to know with whom and where I have worked. Since 1988, I have worked with adults, couples, families and teenagers, individually and in group therapy, in most settings: residential, inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and private practice, along with in-home family consultations. Examples of issues addressed include depression and other mood disorders, substance use issues, anxiety, compulsitivities (addictions of all kinds, OCD), personality disorders, trauma, relationship problems, school struggles, anger and behavioral regulation problems and life transition difficulties. Whenever I have come across an issue I thought I couldn't effectively address, I've helped the person find resources that could. Even though starting therapy might seem intimidating, if you choose to take that courageous first step, I will be there to put you at ease. You do not have to do the work alone. It would be my privilege to join you on your therapy journey.
