Hattie Runzheimer
Dr. Hattie Runzheimer is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, board certified adult and gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, critical care registered nurse, and clinical faculty at University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies. Hattie is passionate about both spectrums of healthcare involving physical and mental illnesses. As a dedicated clinical faculty, Hattie teaches undergraduate BSN and graduate PMHNP students. Hattie is always advocating for innovations in healthcare, and integration of behavioral medicine, trauma informed care, and suicide prevention. Her DNP capstone focused on human trafficking education and implementation of a standardized assessment tool for emergency department nurses at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Her life goal is to continue learning, helping, and teaching others. Hattie enjoys connecting with people and finds her work very rewarding. Hattie graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2014). During her undergraduate studies, she volunteered in the student-run Global Brigades that provided health services to deprived communities outside of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. She took elective courses in transcultural healthcare and spent a month in Hawaii traveling to different islands to learn and practice homeopathic medicine. As a registered nurse, she worked in both behavioral health and critical care inpatient units. Hattie continued advancing her professional education at the University of Miami by completing her Master of Science in Nursing in Adult and Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (2019), followed by a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (2020), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (2022).
