Heather Williams
If you're worried about your future, struggling to stay positive, wondering whether to stay or leave, irritated much of the time: I can help you. You don't have to stay "stuck." We'll work together until you can get clear and move forward. As a School Social Worker and Psychotherapist in Private Practice, I've helped hundreds of individuals, couples and families navigate difficult situations, deal with painful losses - and even welcome surprisingly challenging successes. I specialize in Cognitive-Behavioral and Solution-Focused Treatment, as well as Gottman and Relational Therapy for couples. Together we will identify specific goals and frequently review your progress. I often give simple behavioral homework so that you can experience change in between sessions. My approach is active: you will not wonder what I am thinking. I offer astute assessment skills. Typically, clients leave the first session with a new, more hopeful perspective on their capacity to move forward. I am well-versed in body/mind techniques to relieve anxiety. My extensive training in systems thinking helps clients navigate family and work relationships. I was born in Vermont, obtained my MSW with honors from California State University at Sacramento, received two years of post-graduate training in Transgenerational Family Therapy, worked in three different school systems as a related service provider for disabled children and their families, and have been in private practice for the past twenty years. I've traveled extensively - Guatemala, Mexico, Ireland, Greece, Italy, France, Brazil.
