It takes tremendous courage to share the most vulnerable parts of yourself with another person. Yet it is in this space of vulnerability that change and growth happens. With a mixture of warmth, empathy, humor and honesty we will work together to alleviate your anxiety, nurture your vulnerability, and uncover (or re-discover) the version fo you that is peaceful and fulfilled. My approach to therapy is psychodynamic. This means I focus on exploring the past and how it connects to the present. There is a lot of emphasis on feelings, and on creating an environment where you can safely feel the full range of your emotions, which is a deeply healing experience. The first sessions are all about seeing if there is a genuine connection that feels comfortable for you. I will ask general questions to get a sense of the issues that brought you to therapy. I will also share some initial impressions, checking in regularly to make sure I am understanding things in a way that resonates with you. My goal is to have you leave feeling a bit lighter and calmer than when you came in, which often happens when we have the experience of being truly heard and seen.
