Jacqueline Shaffer
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Vermont, and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University. I have worked in abortion care, domestic violence and sexual assault services, community mental health, crisis services, and in the public school system. Common issues that I currently work with are anxiety, depression, young adult issues, PTSD and interpersonal trauma, identity exploration, and life adjustments. My approach draws from Existential and Feminist theory, Narrative Therapy and I am an LGBTQIA+ Affirming provider. I also utilize Brainspotting, am IFS-Informed, and often integrate nature into self-exploration. I am appreciative and non-judgmental toward how you’ve adjusted to your life so far. Psychotherapy provides a unique, interpersonal space where you can address your situation in new ways in the supportive, skilled company of another. I offer a warm and steady presence, a gentle sense of humor, and a genuine curiosity toward the unfolding of your story. We can start where you are, navigate what's brought you in, and help you illuminate your way forward together.
