James Falduti
After 40 years of counseling others, first as a pastoral minister and then as a psychotherapist, I've learned that empathic listening and non-judgmental support is the key to helping and healing. Since I earned my Masters in Social Work in 2001, I have treated adults by working closely with psychiatrists and psychologists, supervising other therapists, and teaching clinical social work at three different universities. I specialize in mood disorders, trauma, and adjustment disorders. My approach to therapy is client-centered and non-pathologizing. I believe that you have the solutions and resources you need to heal inside your Self. After we explore your needs, we will may use a variety of techniques: from brief solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral therapies to more psychodynamic approaches such as parts theory and ego psychology. Also, I am skilled at integrating your ethical values and spiritual beliefs, if you wish, into our therapeutic work. Whether you need treatment for a mental illness or practical tools to improve your life and relationships, I will patiently listen and compassionately guide you. I am skilled at helping my clients learn practical tools to improve confidence, reduce anxiety, communicate more effectively and be free of fear and shame.
