Hi! I’m Dr. Jessica McDonald, a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Florida. I earned bachelor’s degrees in both Psychology and Sociology as well as my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Central Florida. I then went on to earn my doctorate (Psy.D.) in Clinical Health Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. I then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Tampa General Hospital where I specialized in Rehabilitation and Health Psychology. Primarily, I work with individuals ages 16+ who are experiencing a range of difficulties surrounding their health. My approach to therapy focuses on the whole person; my goal is to understand how biological, social, and psychological factors come together to impact overall wellness. I use that understanding to then collaborate with clients to create meaningful and specific goals that ultimately reduce suffering and improve quality of life. Therapy is about making sure you have the tools to live the life you have been hoping for- I’d love to have the chance to help get you there! My specialties include: Adaptation to chronic illness, Adjustment to disability- i.e. brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, limb loss, Chronic pain management, Health psychology- i.e. behavior and lifestyle changes, adherence to medical treatment plans, mood changes following new diagnosis and/or treatments.
