Joanne Jacobs
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years’ experience providing counseling services to individuals of all ages, couples, and families. I believe that by providing support and practical feedback, clients will feel empowered to effectively address life’s tough challenges. I believe that facilitating the individual discovery of personal strengths, encourages individuals to work towards attaining their own personal growth and understanding of their path and direction. I believe change happens when people are given the guidance needed to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential. I strive to provide an environment of compassion and support to help individuals, couples, and families overcome obstacles in order to move forward and thrive on their life journey. My experience includes working in many different counseling roles, with all ages and in various settings. I have successfully worked with children, adolescents, adults and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing therapy for a variety of mental health and substance abuse related concerns. I have extensive experience working with individuals struggling with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder and Attachment Disorders. In addition, I spent 10 years providing individual and group therapy to individuals struggling with self-esteem issues, self-harming behaviors, and anger management concerns. My approach includes the use of emotional regulation, mindfulness, conflict resolution and crisis intervention techniques and interventions. I obtained my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, and my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY.
