Kaci Lapp
Engaging in counseling can be a difficult and scary process. My goal is to help you meet your mental health goals by creating and fostering a warm and accepting environment where we can address and tackle the obstacles that are preventing you from living your best life. I espouse a person-centered, humanistic approach to create a nonjudgmental counseling environment and to provide trauma-informed care. I utilize cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, rational emotive, and Adlerian approaches to therapy to help you "unpack" emotional baggage and identify thoughts, behaviors, and other factors that may be preventing you from finding peace. I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in December 2009. I completed my graduate work and received my master's degree in counseling and human development at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio, in August 2013. My education brought me to several community mental health agencies, where I have spent the last 11 years working with adolescents and adults who struggle to manage the symptoms of severe and persistent mental illnesses. I have experience working with people who have mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, and psychotic disorders. I have provided therapy in individual and couples' sessions. I'm passionate about teaching people skills and techniques that they can use to better manage their symptoms, reduce their stress, and live full, successful, meaningful lives. When I'm not working, I enjoy being in nature, walking my dog, spending time with my family, reading, and attending live music events or comedy shows! I'm looking forward to accompanying you on your journey towards peace of mind and improved mental health.
