Kate Villard-howe
I have an undergraduate degree in political science with a focus on human rights from Simon's Rock College of Bard. I earned a masters in counseling with a focus on trauma studies and marginalized communities from Lesley University. I am currently licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a LMHC. I began my career in human services as a teenager and have worked as a tutor, coach, big sister, caseworker, clinician and program coordinator in various agencies. I have experience in both urban and rural communities. In the past decade, I have worked in schools, residential programs, detention facilities, outpatient clinics, urgent care/crisis centers, emergency rooms and veterans programs. I approach my work with the belief that life is often difficult and overwhelming, but we all have the ability to heal and recover with the right support, guidance and resources. I use a range of therapies including DBT, CBT, trauma counseling, grief counseling, mindfulness and client centered therapy, as well as connecting clients to appropriate resources in their community.
