Katherine Degenhardt
I’m Dr. Kate Degenhardt, a licensed psychologist and the founder of PNW Anxiety Center. I specialize in evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapies for anxiety, depression, and trauma. I also specialize in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders. With a PhD in psychology, I completed my doctoral residency in Seattle at University of Washington and then moved to Portland where I completed a postdoctoral fellowship focused on anxiety treatment. I’m passionate about helping individuals of all ages—children (9+), teens, and adults—navigate anxiety with practical tools that lead to meaningful change. I take a collaborative, compassionate, and skills-based approach to therapy. Using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I help clients face fears, break unhelpful patterns, and build confidence in managing anxiety. Therapy with me is active, structured, and tailored to your needs—whether you're looking for strategies to handle OCD, social anxiety, panic, or life transitions. My goal is to reduce suffering while empowering you with skills to live more fully and freely. Clients can expect to leave sessions with practical tools, a clear plan, and a sense of empowerment in managing their anxiety and OCD-related challenges. My approach is structured yet flexible, evidence-based yet deeply compassionate—meaning we won’t just talk about your struggles, we’ll actively work toward change in a way that feels supportive and manageable. You’ll gain: A deeper understanding of your anxiety or OCD and how it operates in your life. Practical coping strategies to manage worry, intrusive thoughts, and compulsions. Skills to tolerate uncertainty and break free from avoidance patterns. Confidence in facing fears through structured, step-by-step exposure work. A collaborative, paced approach that ensures you're challenged but never overwhelmed. A warm and supportive space where you feel understood, valued, and capable of making change. I tailor therapy to each client’s needs, balancing progress with self-compassion and ensuring we move at a pace that fosters both confidence and meaningful growth. Therapy with me is goal-oriented, interactive, and focused on lasting change, so you can build a life driven by what matters most to you—not anxiety.
