Kathylene Southard
My background includes training in psychodynamic, mentalization-based, mindfulness-based, CBT, and EMDR therapies. I am a former member of a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital's psychiatry department, included as HMS faculty and a speaker for a course on Psychotherapy and Meditation. I received a Master’s degree in Social Work in 2002 from Boston University. I consider it a privilege to have people share their struggles with me, and to be able to assist people in making lasting change in their lives. I welcome people from all walks of life in my practice. This space will be interactive and client driven. I tend to use a lot of EMDR to process emotions and difficult life events. I work with individuals and families to help people enjoy more connected, meaningful, and happy lives. My style is active, collaborative, warm and respectful. I bring practicality, compassion, and creativity to my work with clients, helping you to develop greater skill in coping with stress and sadness, and in creating more satisfying relationships. I also strive to help people better understand the patterns that contribute to ongoing suffering, often from earlier experiences in life.
