Madison Kateregga
These days it seems like everyone is telling us to calm down and breathe. But this often conflicts with a lifetime of stress, worry, and messaging from the world around us that we need to be better. We're told from all sides to work harder, to eat healthier, exercise more. It leaves us with a constant "not good enough" feeling. My approach to therapy is to offer a space where clients feel they can just relax, breathe, and be themselves. In this environment we can work towards increasing our understanding of who you are, how you function, and what is preventing you from achieving whatever your personal goals may be. I come to this work via a Masters in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. I am now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. Prior to private practice I worked with adults in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting. I've also worked with homeless and low-income women in a co-occurring addiction and mental health recovery setting. Today I work with adult men and women, 18+. I pull tools and approaches from a variety of practices, primarily Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. Using these tools we look at a client's past, present, and future and explore how to use the mind-body connection in a way that helps us thrive.
