Margaret Johnston
Margaret Johnston achieved a Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Florida, 2013. She worked as a Chaplin in a hospital received the 9 month Clinical Pastoral Education certification. She experienced working with persons living with schizophrenia, bi-polar, DID and/or addictions. For the last 5 years, she counseled those serving time in the prison system exhibiting anxiety, depression, grief, identity disorders, impulsivity, trauma response and long-term (chronic) PTSD. I attempt to understand the world through the client's lens, to establish rapport and give the most valuable healing gift: being heard. We determine what is missing & what it is important (the why / purpose), how the client wants to find fulfillment (the what / set goals), determine when we will know they are successful & can continue on their own (measures for termination). I specialize in conscious freedom mindfulness, life meaning making, trauma harm mitigation, hoarding reduction. I create an accepting non-judgmental environment where the client feels respected and understands they will be guided, not pushed. All DECISIONS are in their hands as we step through all the sides or concepts they bring to the sessions. I present many resources other than myself, and utilizing CBT, when appropriate, ask for practice to be done to help instill habits of change they desire. Flexible in my approach, I am always ready to listen to the client's needs to learn from them.
