I am a Military Veteran and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri, with expertise in depression, stress and anxiety, addictions, and problems related to high profile occupations. My work experience ranges from working both in inpatient and outpatient settings, crisis response, and working with individuals of all-ages and socio-economic backgrounds. As an Executive myself and former member of the military, I have experience working with people who have heavy work-related demands. I have been helping people with depression, anxiety, relationship struggles and various other mental health, Substance Use, and emotional challenges for the last several years. I use a person-centered approach emphasizing the importance of the therapist/client relationship, along with a cognitive behavioral approach to allow you to explore the thought patterns related to the challenging emotions and behaviors. My counseling philosophy is based on an acknowledgment of the individual’s background and personal beliefs. My style allows the people I work with to develop their own perspective of problem solving and empowers them to make the changes needed in order to accomplish their goals.
I have worked with children ages 4-21 as well as their families in school, at home and in the community for the last several years. I have experience with both in the emotional/mental health and Substance Use fields and have successfully helped teens and their families navigate difficulties and improve relationships and communication. I have provided guidance and support for families navigating different systems of care that helps the familiar ensure they are getting the most out of available resources. My purpose in all I do, is work to keep the family system functional and feeling whole. I’d be happy to help your teen or family though the challenges they face and overcome them.
I have always thought of relationships as the merging of two separate rivers as they become one. When rivers meet, when is there not turbulence? The “work” it takes to maintain the relationship was never really explained to us, but here we are, and we all could use some help every now and then. Relationships are give and take and sometimes even that sounds easier said than done. All I can say is that I’d love to help!
