As a Health Psychologist and Licensed Professional Counselor, I view mental health as an essential part of total health. My hope is to provide my clients with a comfortable place to process their challenges and give them tools to reduce their distress. My work often consists of helping clients identify existing strengths and cultivate new ones. My specialty areas include treating anxiety, trauma, weight loss challenges, women’s and men’s issues, self-esteem, and the mental health impacts of chronic health conditions. My goal is to help my clients rediscover peace, joy, self-compassion, and self-efficacy to maintain these. Living with chronic illness and weight control problems can leave us feeling overwhelmed and defeated. The stress can then lead to challenges in taking care of oneself, further leading to ill health. I recognize that every individual's experience is unique, and the treatment approach should be as well. Our healthcare system has a giant gap between physical and mental healthcare, despite the two being intricately linked. My clinical work and research has been focused on helping bridge this gap and finding viable solutions for clients struggling with the long-term effects of trauma, mental health issues, and weight control challenges.
