Hello, My name is Melissa Bowen and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I love helping others and I realized years ago I really enjoyed listening to people and helping them with whatever problem they may be having. I have worked with various populations and have a diverse background including people with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, PTSD, crisis, grief and loss, and relationship problems. I prefer a positive and more integrative approach since we all have different needs and learn differently. I find it important to find balance in your life. I prefer a person centered approach so you are in charge, we go at your pace and things should be comfortable for you. The client will typically tell me how much better they feel and how comfortable they are after one session. I spend time building rapport which is important in the therpeatuic process. I believe in building a trust based relationship and going at your pace is important. Most clients tell me they feel they are chatting with a friend but realize all the growth they are experiencing, which is how it should be.
