Melissa Futreal
Melissa began helping others in 1990 as a Peer Counselor while active duty in the Marine Corps. After earning degrees in Psychology and Social Work at UNCW/ECU, she obtained Licensure to practice independently with Virginia Board of Health Professionals in 2004. She is originally from the Hampton Roads, Virginia, but has worked internationally with people from many different backgrounds. She has continued to support the military, as well as the community at large spanning 3 decades with evidenced based treatments for trauma (PTSD). She has training and experience treating PTSD with effective modalities, such as CPT , PET, and EMDR. Melissa is formally trained to work with all ages, including a non – directed play therapy for young children. Whether through individual, or Family therapy, she loves bringing others get to the best version of themselves. She uses a holistic lens to offer practical techniques such as yoga, acupressure, and breathing techniques to alleviate symptoms. She has a depth of experience in successfully treating most issues people experience with compassion, and positivity for the future.
