Michael Vitro
I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University. I have extensive experience working with clients from various backgrounds and diagnoses. I believe in the importance of combining assessment-based care with behavioral modifications as a pathway to healing. I believe holistic care is paramount to the recovery process. During treatment, I aim to empower clients to achieve lasting change in their lives. While I utilize an eclectic range of modern, research-based treatment methods, I also place great importance on building and maintaining a strong therapeutic relationship. Life is all about how we cope with psychological distress, emotional pain, change, and the various obstacles we inevitably encounter. Thus, I place great emphasis on identifying the adaptive nature of current coping skills, and modifying them accordingly. I also value the ability to accept negative thoughts and emotions as part of the human experience. Further, I want us to explore rational vs. irrational thoughts, and assess the impact negative perceptions may have in our lives.
