I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Littleton, Colorado, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults (ages 18+) and specialize in depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, and relational issues. I am a Generalist with experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness.
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use a Person-Centered approach, along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. These modalities help me and the client to build a shared understanding of their reality, and allow us to work together to chart a path forward.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults who may be dealing with a variety of life's challenges. For the client, this may take the form of depression, anxiety, stress, and even suicidal or homicidal thoughts. I work to help my clients navigate these concerns and build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life.
My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgement.
I decided to become a therapist because of my own experience as a therapy client and a strong desire to help others with the challenges that life throws at them. After graduating from Regis University in Denver I have spent 27 years working with a local community mental health center where I have worked with clients of all ages. As an active Eastern Orthodox Christian for over 30 years, I am interested in working with individuals with shared religious beliefs although is not a requirement for working with me as I am open to working with individuals of all cultures and religious beliefs.
My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust between us and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Over time, we will work together to set goals and track your progress.
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you have been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming what will work best for you moving forward.
