I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in helping patients who suffer from any of the following - depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders; chronic pain/illness/terminal illness; grieving, death and bereavement (to include pet loss); PTSD for Veterans and survivors of any type of abuse; adults on the autism spectrum; couples, premarital, and marriage counseling; LGBTQIA +, as well as gender identity problems; and, geriatrics.
Having received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Hiram College, I then went on to pursue my Master's of Social Science Administration from Case Western Reserve University/Mandel School of Applied Social Science. I worked for over 10 years with my B.A. providing services for many non-profit organizations in a variety of different spheres. For the last 12 years, I have been in private practice. I accept clients from age 21-100+.
I am a warm, compassionate, and commited therapist that will help you where you feel you need to begin in your treatment with me. I like to use an ecclectic approach to therapy. This means that I do not adhere to one particular model of therapy to help you. I rely on the use of many theoretical models so that I can select which technique will help you the most. This may change during the course of our work together based on what you feel are your top priorities. We will work together to help you form a trusting relationship that will be based on honesty and your motivation to help yourself.
I believe in a very direct and interactive approach to therapy. I relish feedback and expect you to express your opinions and feelings about what you are learning about yourself in treatment. I believe that change is an inherent part of therapy. When people come to see me, they are usually unhappy in their lives. It is through change that most people grow and learn how to manage their problems in a less stressful way. The goal is to function more effectively in all aspects of your life that you interface with. Feel free to come and take this journey with me as your therapist. Remember, it's been said that change is not painful. It is the resistance to change that causes one to have pain.
