Hello, I'm Tita. It can be difficult to push through apprehension and even fear to reach out for support. Navigating life's challenges doesn't have to be done alone. We can work together to explore, process, and manage life more effectively with tools and strategies that we collaboratively create.
I’ve worked in various settings that include community-based outpatient clinics, hospitals, private practice, health insurance, and universities. I graduated with honors in 2008 from Mercer University with a Master of Science Degree in Community Counseling. I then obtained my associate license (LAPC), with full licensure (LPC) being obtained in 2012.
My experience includes helping individuals, couples, families, and military veterans with concerns such as stress and anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, career difficulties, and substance use. I've also had the pleasure of teaching as an adjunct instructor, undergraduate social science courses to adult learners. A few of the courses I’ve taught were Interpersonal Relations, Conflict Resolution, Life Span Development, and Psychopathology.
My approach to therapy is collaborative in nature. It is my belief that client and counselor both play an integral role in the process of therapy and input from both is vital to its overall success. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I’ve trained in several evidence-based practices and routinely incorporate the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques into sessions. I am also a trained Prepare/Enrich facilitator.
As a veteran of the U.S. Army, I’ve had the pleasure of serving my country honorably in various locations stateside and overseas. During this time, I was afforded numerous opportunities to meet, work, and live with people of all different racial, socioeconomic, educational, religious, and political backgrounds. As such, I consider multicultural counseling as not only a component of my work with clients but rather a deliberate priority and focus.
If you're ready to take the next step, I'm here to support you on your journey. Let's work together to create a path forward.
