"If we share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can't survive." -Brene Brown. Life is beautiful, fun and exciting, but...it is also difficult, traumatic, overwhelming, exhausting and incredibly challenging. Our anxiety sometimes gets the best of us and it's often hard to deal with the symptoms. You don't have to suffer from unbearable anxiety. Whether is manifests itself as panic, OCD, irritability, inability to focus, sleeplessness or fear, there is a way out. With education, self awareness and coping techniques you can find your way to a more manageable and peaceful life. If you are struggling with the variety of emotions that come with being human, you are not alone. We all experience challenges and need to reach out for help at some point in our lives. It takes courage to ask for help. Connecting with a mental health professional is the first and sometimes the hardest step toward helping yourself. Well done! I would be honored to be a part of your journey. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Virginia and Florida. I graduated in 2001 with a Master's degree in Social Work from Indiana University, and have over 12 years counseling experience (I took a few years off to raise four children). My experience includes working with children, adolescents, families, couples and adults in the clinical setting, schools, as well as intensive in-home counseling. Specific experience includes treating issues related to anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, relationships, child development, behavior modification, ADHD/ADD, parenting, grief, geriatric issues, and career challenges. Most recently, I have been working virtually in private practice mostly with adults of all ages who are looking to improve their coping strategies related to anxiety disorders (including OCD and phobias with Exposure and Response Prevention therapy), depression and trauma. Each individual is unique and requires a personalized approach. I strive to provide an environment that puts clients at ease in order to feel heard, safe, and capable of being open and honest about their thoughts and feelings. If this can be accomplished, we can work together to develop a treatment plan to achieve your personal goals. You are welcome to contact me at anytime. Intense thoughts and feelings can occur anytime so having this outlet can be very comforting. I check my messages throughout the day and will be sure to respond within 24 hours Monday-Friday. I am available for live sessions virtually Monday-Friday 9am-4pm. I look forward to hearing from you and working together!
