Finding a therapist is often as much about the "match" as it is about the skill and experience of the clinician. Many times, we seek therapy when things are at a low point, when things are overwhelming and support is needed most. The reasons and goals of therapy are individual, and its important that they are heard, understood and respected by the clinician, as a therapeutic relationship is collaborative, and built on trust. With over 20 years of experience in the field of helping others, I have found that trusting, genuine connections are an essential base for change to occur. I carefully and compassionately listen to what you have to say, and partner with you to help you achieve the changes you are looking for. I believe that you are the author of your story; my role may be to offer different perspectives, or to be a sounding board, or to provide support as you work through a certain "chapter." Together, we determine the work you'd like to do and the best way to make that happen. I most often work with people in young adulthood and up who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or stress from natural life transitions. I also work with people in the LGBTQIA+ community who have not received the affirmation and support they deserve from some of their relationships, both familial and workplace based. Using Collaborative Problem Solving as a foundation, my approach is customized to each individual's needs and often pulls for cognitive and dialectic approaches.
