Amy Butler Angell
I have ten years of experience working in the nonprofit sector, six of which was as a therapist at a rape crisis center. I am quite comfortable working with trauma survivors, and I find that I do my best work in longer-term therapeutic relationships. I am kind and empathetic, and I aim to affirm each client's identity and meet them where they are when they show up for therapy. I operate with the strong belief that the most important aspect of healing is a trusting and affirming therapeutic relationship. In all that I do as a therapist, I keep the relationship I build with my clients in the forefront of my mind. I find this to be a difficult question to answer, as every session is so difficult. I tend to be warm and welcoming, and I hope that my clients feel supported and affirmed by my presence. I can't guarantee that every session is going to feel good- trauma work is hard stuff! But I can say that if we stick with it, and keep processing, relief will come.
