Kerry Jessup
I am an art therapist and licensed professional counselor. I hold a master's degree from New York University and have a decade of experience in the field of mental health and human services. I work with adults and adolescents ages 12+ and treat a wide range of conditions including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. I am especially passionate about working with LGBTQ+ clients, including individuals who are questioning their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. I offer talk therapy, EMDR, and art therapy. Art therapy consists of both visual and verbal processing, and it is a particularly helpful intervention for people who have difficulty describing their internal experience and expressing themselves with words. Creating art provides us with a means of bypassing language when words fail to describe our experiences, memories, and emotions. Most clients who seek out art therapy are not artists, and no prior art experience is required. In your intake we will identify your most pressing needs and concerns. I will ask what has and hasn't worked for you before in therapy. If you are new to therapy, we will talk about strategies you have used in an attempt to manage the stressors in your life. Your course of therapy with me will be solution-focused and we will collaborate to work toward clearly defined goals.
